We are running to raise awareness for the Dr Hadwen Trust highlighting their valuable research projects promoting humane science and furthering medical research.
Here is just a few of their current projects.
- The liver research appeal. This project at Nottingham University is using the very latest tissue engineering techniques to culture human liver cells on 3D micro-scaffolds, to create realistic cell culture models for the study of liver diseases, such as hepatitis, and for drug research and testing. These advanced human liver tissue cultures will help to replace the use of rodents, dogs and primates in these areas of research.
- The pain research appeal. The Trust is developing exclusively non-animal techniques to study pain and replace distressing experiments on rodents, monkeys and cats. Your donation will help our work to replace pain experiments on animals and to develop safe non-animal methods for studying human pain and improving approaches to treatment.
- The Trust’s research heralds asthma breakthrough. Research with samples of human airway tissue from asthmatics, funded by the Dr Hadwen Trust, is enabling breakthroughs in the understanding of severe asthma. Using human-relevant approaches, in place of animal models, has provided vital clues that could lead to new methods of treating asthma or preventing long-term changes to the airways of asthmatics.
- Other research includes skin cancer, multiple sclerosis, brain tumours, cystic fibrosis, and septic shock, all without the use of animals.
By supporting these appeals you will be doing something really positive to help stop both animal and human suffering. Thank you Every donation really does make a difference.
